The Naval & Military Press CD/DVD-ROMs

The Naval & Military Press has produced a number of CD-ROM products for the military history enthusiast to enjoy.

Our Soldiers Died in The Great War and Army Roll of Honour contain a complete listing of British soldiers that died in the two World Wars.

Our trench map products are an invaluable resource for anyone interested in troop movements and battle during the conflicts.

The War Diaries of the Battalions who fought the Great War on The Western Front, First World War Campaign Medals, and Silver War Badge 1914-1918, continue to bring the benefits of DVD-ROM data sets to the military historian and genealogist.

Are you a family historian, trying to find out what happened to a relative in 1914-1918? Or perhaps you are researching a local war memorial. The problem has been that only the Army casualties were digitised in 1999 by N&MP, leaving a blank with the Sea and Air servicemen. Now, the British Sea and Air Services of the First World War are digitised and available from N&MP on DVD-ROM to complete this hitherto large and frustrating gap.

Statistical detail for all data fields is easily accomplished with DVD-ROM, allowing casualties for sea and land battles, ship, submarine, Regiment, and Battalion for the whole (or part) of each war to be analysed date by date as never before. This flexibility is lacking with online versions of our databases.

SAILORS DIED IN THE GREAT WAR - Royal Naval Other Ranks Deaths 1914–1919
dvd12Almost 45,000 Royal Navy sailors lost their lives in the Great War and sadly, for most, the sea is their last resting place. Those without graves are mostly commemorated on the huge naval memorials at Chatham, Portsmouth and Plymouth. Despite the number remaining at sea, about 36% are buried ashore, in mostly named graves, and all over the world. Many sailors fought alongside their chums in the army on battlefields as diverse as Gallipoli, Russia and the Western Front. Many others died in the United Kingdom and that is where they were buried.

THE OFFICIAL BOER WAR CASUALTY ROLLS OF THE BRITISH & EMPIRE ARMY 1899–1902

dvd1254,931 casualties – Officers and men – who were killed in action or died of wounds or disease. Includes those who suffered non-fatal wounds and injuries. The Boer War was one of the bloodiest wars fought by Britain and her Empire prior to the Great War. Soldiers were physically unprepared for the harsh environment and poorly trained for the tactical conditions they faced.
Originally published by Authority in Cape Town, this database lists the names, regiments, dates, locations and nature of casualty of all Officers and men of the South African Field Force from the outbreak of war, 11th October 1899, to 31st May 1902 and the Natal Field Force from 20th October 1898 to 26th October 1900. Also shown are casualties occurring after the signing of peace.

BRITISH & EMPIRE PRISONERS OF WAR 1939-1945

dvd12These remarkable compilations, in their original printed form, were alphabetical nominal registers (including locational and other details) of approximately 169,000 Officers and men of the British, Dominion and other allied forces. They were originally published in ten parts by HMSO under the title Germany and German Occupied Territories; Imperial Prisoners of War; Alphabetical Lists. Produced in limited numbers for internal reference, the registers were updated periodically until the last, most comprehensive, printing in May 1945.
These records are an important source of information about WWII Prisoners of War, as both Officers and other ranks are shown.

Official History of The Great War Other Theatres DVD-Rom

Although attention has understandably focussed on the Western Front in the Great War, the conflict was a World War fought across many different theatres. Battles raged from the deserts of the Arabian peninsular and the Holy Land, to the jungles of East Africa, and the beaches of Gallipoli.
No study of the Great War can be complete without an examination of this DVD-ROM. With Britain finding itself assuming responsibility for ever longer stretches of the Western Front it had to simultaneously find men to fight the Turks at Gallipoli, in Egypt and in Mesopotamia to assist the Serbs, and to reduce the garrisons of Germany’s African Colonies.
Covering Constantinople, East Africa, Egypt & Palestine, Gallipoli, German South West Africa, Italy, Macedonia, Mesopotamia, Persia, & Togoland and The Cameroons
